Babbar Khalsa suspected to be behind Ludhiana court blast: Sources


An explosion rocked the Ludhiana court complex on Thursday afternoon, killing one person and injuring five others. Sources suggest that Babbar Khalsa was behind the explosion.

The Pakistan-backed Babbar Khalsa is said to be behind the Court explosion in Ludhiana, according to sources. The explosion in Punjab claimed one life and five others were injured.

According to police, the explosion occurred in a washroom on the second floor of the Ludhiana District and Hearing Court Complex at around 12:22 p.m.

Police and National Investigation Agency (NIA) teams were brought to the site of the explosion. That said sources in the secret services The explosion looked like a possible IED attack. A forensic report is expected to determine the contents of the explosives.

High alert has been issued in survey-based Punjab and police have been instructed to increase security in public places.

Condemn the incident, Punjab Prime Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said: “… the guilty will not be spared”. He also mentioned that the elections in Punjab are imminent and the government is vigilant about such incidents.

The Union’s interior minister, Amit Shah, has meanwhile spoken to the chief minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi, to find out about the explosion and to get an assessment of the legal and regulatory situation in the state. Amit Shah was also briefed on the matter by the Union Interior Minister.
