A doctor reportedly murdered his wife and two children in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on Friday. He is currently on the run and the police are looking for him.
According to a diary found at the site of the alleged murder, the defendant was concerned about the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus. He wrote, “Omicron will kill everyone. Because of my negligence, I’m stuck in a point where it’s hard to escape.”
The defendant is said to have been depressed for a long time.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Dr. Sushil Kumar, head of the forensics department at a Kanpur hospital, allegedly killed his 48-year-old wife, 18-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter and then asked his brother to call the police. Before the police or his brother could reach them, he fled the scene.
Once at the location, the police sent the three bodies for an autopsy. A blood-stained hammer was also found nearby.
In the diary found nearby, the defendant is said to have spoken of an “incurable disease” from which he suffered. He wrote that he could not leave his family in trouble and so he put everyone on the path of liberation.
The police investigation is currently ongoing.
