Congress chairman Rahul Gandhi said the Indian government needed to provide a “real response” in connection with the civilian deaths in Nagaland.
Congress chairman Rahul Gandhi launched an attack on the government for killing civilians in Nagaland’s Mon district and asked, “What is the Ministry of Interior doing?” and said the government had to give a real answer.
Saying that the government has to give a ‘real answer’, the congressional chairman said on Twitter: “This is heartbreaking. The Indian government has to give a real answer. What exactly does the Ministry of the Interior do when neither civilians nor security personnel are safe with us? Country?”
Thirteen people, including one soldier, died on Saturday evening in an exchange of fire between the villages of Oting and Tiru in the Mon district of Nagaland. The Imnalensa Police Superintendent has confirmed thirteen deaths in the incident.
In response to the incident, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio said it was “very condemnable” and that a “high-level” special investigation team would investigate the case to ensure that “justice is done”. He called for peace from all parts of society.
