Senior Congress Chairman Jairam Ramesh tweeted the news that former Bengali CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee rejected the Padma Bhushan Prize, posting a cryptic caption that is a subtle jibe about party colleague Ghulam Nabi Azad’s name being on the Padma Prize winners list seemed.
In the tweet, Jairam Ramesh said: “To do the right thing. He wants to be Azad, not Ghulam.”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor congratulated Ghulam Nabi Azad on his appointment with Padma Vibhushan.
“Congratulations to Shri @ghulamnazad on his Padma Bhushan. It’s good to be recognized for your public service even by the government of the other side,” Shashi Tharoor said in a tweet.
Both Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Ghulam Nabi Azad were named for Padma awards. However, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has refused to accept it.
