WHAT HAPPENED?

On Friday, BJP employees protested against the security void of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Punjab earlier this week with Gandhi Chowk in Dhanbad. According to senior BJP leaders, a passerby allegedly used non-parliamentary language against Jharkhand BJP leader Dipak Prakash and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their protest.

The BJP staff beat the man, while the traffic police remained silent onlookers. The man who belongs to the Muslim community managed to escape. A video of the beating has now gone viral on the internet.

CM PROMISES MEASURES

Jharkhand Prime Minister Hemant Soren went on Twitter to promise that action would be taken against the perpetrators. He directed the officers to investigate the matter and take action against those found guilty. The Prime Minister said no one should damage the social fabric of the state and those who create communal disharmonies would not be spared.

After the Prime Minister gave instructions, the police intervened. The victim’s brother, Rehan, filed an FIR. Based on the viral video, police searched the homes of two BJP employees and arrested four. Deputy Police Commissioner Manoj Swargiary said tough measures would be taken against those found guilty.

POLITICAL PARTIES REACT

Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha condemned the incident, saying the state did a law has already been passed to prevent incidents of mob lynching but such cases still cropped up.

Meanwhile, BJP leader CP Singh said the party would investigate the matter and investigate whether the attackers were actually BJP employees. If it turns out to be party workers, action will be taken against them, he said. The BJP chief also said no senior party leader had asked workers to beat up the victim.
