Delhi airport: Pilot, 3 cabin crew personnel fail breathalyser tests during festive week


A pilot and three flight attendants from various airlines failed tests with breath analysis devices between Christmas and January 1.

Three flight attendants and a pilot from various airlines failed the test of the breath analyzer between Christmas and January 1. Sources from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation said all incidents at Delhi airport were recorded.

According to information from India Today Television, one cabin crew member failed the alcohol test on Christmas, another the following day, and the third on January 1st. A pilot at Delhi airport who passed the test on 29 also passed the test.

On December 20, the civil aviation regulator DGCA issued revised guidelines for breath analyzer tests for flight crew.

The DGCA urged all airlines to send doctors or paramedics or emergency medical personnel to the airlines for pre-flight breath analysis tests for the crew in order to make the process more stringent. They also urged airlines to conduct breath analysis tests on aircraft upon arrival.

In the revised Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR), the regulator instructed all scheduled airlines operating flights originating in India to conduct tests to detect alcohol levels in the blood of all flight crews.
