While campaigning for the forthcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party candidates and Rashtriya Lok Dal were literally showered with money. Videos of it have gone viral on social media.
In a video, Rashtriya Lok Dal’s candidate, Avtar Singh Bhadana, campaigns in a village. A crowd is seen as rupee notes are thrown around.
In the other video, Samajwadi Party candidate Sunil Choudhary can be seen campaigning while his supporters throw rupee notes from the balcony of a building.

WHO ARE THESE CANDIDATES?
Gurjar leader Avtar Singh Bhadana fights the election on the RLD ticket from the Jewar constituency. Meanwhile, Sunil Choudhary is contesting a ticket for the Samajwadi party from the Noida constituency.
Avtar Singh Bhadana, the acting MLA based in Meerapur, Muzaffarnagar, recently left the BJP and joined the RLD. He was previously in Congress and is a four-time MP from Lok Sabha.
SP and RLD fight in alliance for the elections in Uttar Pradesh. The election will be conducted in seven phases in February and March. The votes will be counted on March 10th.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, The electoral commission has banned rallies and road shows until January 31st. However, door-to-door campaigns, indoor gatherings of no more than 300 people, and public gatherings of no more than 500 people are allowed (for phase 1 candidates only).
