The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian squads for the ODI and T20I series against the West Indies on Wednesday 26th January. India will play 3 ODIs in Ahmedabad from February 6th and as many T20Is in Kolkata from February 16th.
Rohit Sharma, who missed India’s tour of South Africa with a hamstring injury, returns to lead the ODI team and the T20I team. Former captain Virat Kohli is part of both the ODI and T20I squads for the West Indies series.
Vice-Captain KL Rahul will only be available from the 2nd ODI of the 3-match series, which begins on February 6 in Ahmedabad, the BCCI said.
Rohit passed the obligatory fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and subsequently attended the selection session with the Senior Selection Committee.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were rested by both series while turning their left arm at the wrist Kuldeep Yadav returns to the ODI squad.
washington sundar, who missed the South African ODIs after contracting Covid-19 is part of both squads for the home series.
Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami has been rested from the series.
KL Rahul will be available from the 2nd ODI.
R Jadeja is in the final stages of recovery from his knee injury and will not be available for the ODIs and T20Is.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was dropped from the ODI squad after a stunning performance in the match 3 in South Africa earlier this month. Senior spinner R Ashwin is reportedly unavailable for the West Indies series due to injury concerns.

Ravi Bishnoi, who played for the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League is called up for the first time for ODIs and T20Is. Bishnoi has been selected by RSPG Group’s new franchise, Lucknow Super Giants, for IPL 2022.
Deepak Hoodawho did well in the domestic season, gets an ODI call-up.

Rohit was named India’s ODI captain in December last year after Virat Kohli was sacked from the role but the skipper was unable to travel to South Africa due to injury. Rohit was named India’s T20I captain after the T20 World Championship, after which Kohli resigned from his top job.
In Rohit’s absence, India were led by KL Rahul in South Africa but the star-batter’s captain came under the scanner as India lost the ODI series 0-3. Rahul continues to be the vice captain of the ODI and T20I side for the West Indies series.
