Weekend curfew in Delhi: Who will be allowed to step out?


With the number of Covid cases rising rapidly in Delhi, the government has decided to impose a weekend curfew to curb the spread of coronavirus infections. Deputy Prime Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday warned people not to leave their homes except in the event of a medical emergency.

The weekend curfew is imposed from Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m. The regular nightly curfew remains in effect.

Here is a list of the people exempted during the weekend curfew in Delhi:

1) Those who work in emergency services are allowed to go outside during the weekend and at night on presentation of a valid identity card.

2) Central government officials and officials of the autonomous or subordinate government agencies and PSUs are exempted on presentation of a valid ID card.

3) Judges and all judicial officers, staff of all courts of Delhi, as well as attorneys and legal counsels in connection with the cases are exempt from presenting valid identity cards, service cards, photo immigration passports or letters of approval issued by the administration.

4) Employees in the diplomatic offices of different countries as well as persons who hold a constitutional office are exempted from curfews on presentation of a valid identity card.

5) Medical staff such as doctors, nurses, paramedics and people who provide other medical services such as hospitals, diagnostic centers, test laboratories, clinics, pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, suppliers of medical oxygen and other medical and health services are banned from the weekend on presentation of a valid ID card be excluded.

6) Pregnant women and patients who would like to take advantage of medical and health services together with an accompanying person, upon presentation of a valid identity card and a medical prescription.

7) Anyone who would like to be tested or vaccinated for Covid-19 can do so by showing a valid identity card.

8th) Travelers coming or going from airports, train stations and interstate bus stations are allowed outside during curfew if they present valid tickets.

9) Personnel who work with electronic and print media are exempted upon presentation of a valid identity card.

10) Exam candidates or students are admitted to exams on presentation of valid admission cards. The personnel employed for examination tasks are also allowed to travel with them on presentation of a valid identity card or examination assignment.

11) Free movement of people to wedding-related gatherings is permitted if they provide a soft or printed copy of the wedding invitation. Such gatherings are limited to 20 people.
