Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin took to Twitter on Sunday to say that a convention of opposition chief ministers will soon be held in Delhi as part of an initiative by Mamata Banerjee.
“Beloved Didi @MamataOfficial telephoned me to share her concern and anguish on the Constitutional overstepping and brazen misuse of power by the Governors of non-BJP ruled states. She suggested for a meeting of Opposition CMs,” Stalin said in a tweet.
“I assured her of DMK’s commitment to uphold State autonomy. Convention of Opposition CMs will happen soon out of Delhi,” he added.

Will hold meetings with Uddhav, Mamata: KCR
On Sunday, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) said he will soon hold meetings with his Maharashtra and West Bengal counterparts Uddhav Thackeray and Mamata Banerjee.
Addressing the media at Hyderabad’s Pragathi Bhavan, KCR said he may go to Mumbai anytime soon to meet Uddhav Thackeraywhile Mamata Banerjee is expected to come to Hyderabad to meet him.
While KCR did not explicitly say about the formation of a united opposition front against the BJP, he said he would play an important role if any such front forms in future.

“Mamata Behen (Mamata Banerjee) called me. We had a discussion over the phone. She invited me to Bengal or she’ll come to Hyderabad. She said Mujhe Dosa kilao. I said most welcome. She may come any time. We are discussing. There are so many political leaders across the nation,” KCR said.
“Uddhav Thackeray is also waiting. They are waiting for me. I have to go to Mumbai. Once this Sri Ramanujacharya function is over, I think I may go to Mumbai any time,” he added.
KCR further accused the BJP of “destroying” the country and slammed the central government over issues ranging from fuel price rise to foreign policy.
Mamata Banerjee’s call for ‘regional alliance’ against BJP
Recently, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee had said that her party will fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh.
“I want all regional parties to unite, fight and defeat the BJP in 2024,” Mamata Banerjee had said.
Mamata Banerjee also campaigned for the Samajwadi Party ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election and shared stage with party president Akhilesh Yadav.
Where does Congress stand in the picture?
In December last year, Mamata Banerjee sent shockwaves across the Congress camp by saying the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) does not exist anymore.
Mamata Banerjee had also criticized the Congress for its absent leadershipcalling for a stronger regional alliance to take on the BJP at the national level.
However, the Congress had then called out Mamata Banerjee of helping the BJP with her remarks. Congress leader Kapil Sibal had said, “Without the Congress, UPA will be a body without a soul. Time to show opposition unity.”
