Attorney General Tushar Mehta said, “We were heard for just 90 seconds before the Supreme Court suspended a government policy.”
A bank led by the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana has agreed to hear the matter next week.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday ordered a stay of the implementation Domicile reservation private Vacancies in Haryana. Earlier, the state government ordered that 75 percent of private jobs in the state be reserved for Haryana citizens. The Haryana Industries Association, the Faridabad Industrial Association and others had appealed to the Supreme Court.
They told the Supreme Court that people in the private sector are selected based on their qualifications and skills. “If employers are deprived of the right to choose the employee, how will the industry develop?” the petition reads.
LIVING ROOM JOB RESERVATION IN HARYANA
The Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Act, 2020, came into force on January 15, 2022. The law applied to jobs offering a maximum monthly gross salary or wages of Rs 30,000.
It included private companies, corporations, trusts and partnership companies in Haryana, according to a notice issued by the state government.
Earlier this month, Haryana Deputy Prime Minister Dushyant Chautala said the quota would open up new job opportunities for thousands of youth.
