Senior members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) lambasted Yoga Guru Ramdev about his recent remarks about doctors who had succumbed to Covid-19. A viral video also features the co-founder of Patanjali Yogapeeth calling allopathy a “stupid science”.
The previous Monday, the Union’s Minister of Health, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, done this asked Ramdev to withdraw his comments. In a letter to Ramdev, the minister said: “The declaration disregards the corona warriors and hurts the sentiments of the country.”
At least according to the Indian Medical Association (IMA) 400 doctors died in the second wave of Covid-19 Infections. Delhi, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh were responsible for most of these deaths.
Doctors question Coronil’s credibility
The Secretary General of the IMA, Dr. Jayesh Lele, on Monday questioned the credibility of Ramdev’s claims related to Patanjali’s coronil. “Ramdev has no WHO certification for Coronil,” said the IMA official.
Dr. Anurag, a member of the Ramdev team, responded by saying, “We conducted a double-blind study that was published in renowned international journals. We also performed an in vitro validation on the study.”

The IMA official went on to ask Ramdev why Covid-19 claimed so many lives if the Coronil units he sold were effective.
“I’m not saying to remove the patient from ventilatory support. I’m saying we have evidence that he has cured people who were asymptomatic, moderate, or even severe, and had lung infections of up to 50 percent. We have those Data, “he says Ramdev.

In response, Ramdev claimed that he was reading a “WhatsApp message” and that the remarks were not his own. “I have never denied the role of doctors,” he added.

Sharma asked Ramdev to work on a Covid-19 ward for three weeks.
“We treat Covid-19 patients based on research. India’s mortality rate is 2 percent because of its doctors,” said IMA Secretary General Dr. Jayesh Lele.
