On Wednesday, two groups clashed in Chandannagar, Hooghly district in West Bengal. In order to bring the situation under control, the police operation on site was intensified.
Preliminary information suggests that bricks and stones were hurled in Chandannagar after a clash between a group of Lichupatty locals and another from Urdu Bazar.
Members of the groups even threw at least six bombs at each other during the clash.
