Indian Navy, Air Force to participate in war games with US Navy’s nuclear-powered aircraft carrier


Indian Navy warships and Indian Air Force fighter jets will conduct joint exercises with the US Navy’s nuclear-powered aircraft carriers in separate exercises on June 23 and 24.

Indian Naval Ships, Kochi and Teg, along with P8I and MiG 29K aircraft, will participate in a passage exercise with the US Navy during its transit through the Indian Ocean region.

“The warships of the Indian Navy and aircraft of the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force are with the Carrier Strike Group, consisting of the aircraft carrier of the Nimitz class, Ronald Reagan, the guided missile destroyer of the Arleigh Burke class, the USS Halsey and the Ticonderoga Class, its missile cruiser USS Shiloh is involved in joint operations with multiple domains, ”announced the Indian Navy.

The IAF will also be participating in an exercise alongside the US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

IAF fighter jets – Jaguar and Su-30 MKI – as well as airborne early warning and control systems (AEW&C) and air-to-air refueler aircraft will also be part of the joint exercise.

The US is expected to deploy F-18 fighters and E-2C Hawkeye AEW&C aircraft.

The exercise is being conducted south of Thiruvananthapuram on the west coast.

JOINT EXERCISE TO STRENGTHEN BILATERAL RELATIONSHIPS

The two-day exercise aims to strengthen bilateral ties and collaborations by demonstrating the two nations’ ability to fully integrate and coordinate in maritime operations.

Rapid operations during the exercise include advanced air defense exercises, helicopter over-deck operations, and anti-submarine exercises.

The participating armed forces will seek to improve their warfare skills and improve their interoperability as an integrated force promoting peace, security and stability in the maritime domain.

“The Indian Navy and the US Navy regularly conduct a variety of bilateral and multilateral exercises that underscore shared values ​​as partner navies to ensure commitment to an open, inclusive and rules-based international order,” said the Indian Navy.

The IAF’s exercise with the U.S. CSG will focus on several areas, including improving aspects of interoperability, nuances of international integrated maritime SAR operations, and sharing best practices in the maritime air force.
