Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a meeting of the Union Cabinet on Wednesday, its first physical meeting in over a year. The Union Cabinet will meet on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Sources said the last physically held cabinet meeting was in the first week of April last year when the coronavirus pandemic hit the country.

However, even during the lockdown, the Union cabinet met regularly by video conference almost every week.

The Prime Minister will also chair a meeting of the Council of Ministers by videoconference at 4 p.m.

For the second time within a week, the Council of Ministers will meet on 7 July with 43 new ministers after its enlargement.

The new Council of Ministers met on July 8th.

Sources said the upcoming monsoons session of parliament may have been one of the reasons for the frequent convening of the Council of Ministers.
