“FORCES OF RESISTANCE AGAINST TALIBAN FOR BOTH PANJSHIR, AFGHANISTAN”

In an interview with India Today last month, Fahim Dashty said that the resistance forces in Panjshir were fighting the Taliban not just for the province, but for Afghanistan.

“We are fighting for the whole of Afghanistan and not just for one province. We are concerned with the rights of Afghans, women and minorities. The Taliban must ensure equality and rights,” he said.

He had also said that they are in contact with different countries and expect the rest of the world to speak to the Taliban and bring them to the negotiating table.

AHMAD MASSOUD READY FOR PEACE TALKS WHEN TALIBAN FORCES OUT OF PANJSHIR. WITHDRAW

Meanwhile, Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the Panjshir resistance forces, said he was on Sunday is open to peace talks if the Taliban withdraw their troops from the region.

“The National Resistance Front stands ready to end the war immediately in order to achieve a stable peace if the Taliban group ends their military attacks and movements in Panjshir and Andarab,” Ahmad Massoud said in a statement, welcoming suggestions from religious scholars for one negotiated settlement to end the fighting.

The statement by the NRFA chief came after reports that Taliban troops had fought their way into the provincial capital Panjshir after securing the surrounding districts, according to Reuters. Taliban spokesman Bilal Karimi said fighting was ongoing in Barazat, the capital of Holdout province.

The Taliban and the NRFA have been engaged in a fight in the Panjshir Valley last week, with either side maintaining the upper hand. While the Taliban said they had conquered important districts, Resistance forces said they killed over 1,000 militant fighters and pushed them back on several fronts.
