Prime Ministers Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress during his reply to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
PM Modi said the Congress is stuck in 2014 and accused the party of using Parliament for political gains.
Here’s how PM Modi took on the Congress in the Lok Sabha today:
‘Congress arrogant despite poll losses’
PM Modi said, “Somewhere the Opposition’s needle is stuck in 2014. You should come out of this. The public knows it, they have recognized.”

“It’s not about election results, it’s about the intention of the Congress party. So many elections you lose, still your arrogance doesn’t go. Your ecosystem doesn’t let your arrogance go,” he added.
‘Congress against small farmers’
Hitting out at the Congress for its opposition of the three farm laws, PM Modi said, “Those who have ruled the nation for so many years and are used to living in palatial houses have forgotten to speak about the welfare of the small farmer. For India’s progress, it is important to empower the small farmer. The small farmer will strengthen India’s progress.”
‘Congress crossed all limits during pandemic’
Speaking on the Opposition’s criticism of the government’s handling of the Covid-19 wave, PM Modi said, “The Congress Party has crossed all limits in this time of Covid-19. The first wave, when people were told to stay where they were, the Congress instigated migrants to leave Mumbai. It gave tickets to go from Mumbai to UP and Bihar. You created a ruckus.”
‘Congress not coming to power for 100 years if they behave this way’
PM Modi said, “Some people were waiting that the virus will destroy the image of Modi. If we are talking about being vocal for local, are we not fulfilling the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi? Then, why was it being mocked by the opposition? We talked about Yoga and Fit India but that was mocked by the Opposition too.”
Slamming the Congress, PM Modi said, “The way you behave, it seems you are not coming to power for 100 years”.
Taking a veiled dig at the Congress, PM Modi said, “There is a slave mentality among some people. Even after 75 years, some people have not changed.”
PM Modi also said, “We are firm believers in democracy. And, we also believe that criticism is an essential part of democracy. But, blind opposition to everything is never the way ahead.”
PM Modi on Rahul Gandhi calling industrialists ‘Covid variant’
Taking a veiled dig at Congress leader Rahul GandhiPM Narendra Modi said, “What did he say that industrialists are a variant of Covid? At least tell him that he is damaging the reputation of Congress.”
This came after Rahul Gandhi on February 2 tweeted, “Institutions, the instruments of conversation between states & people, are being destroyed by the BJP’s idea of India. They’ve created a divide where a “Double A” variant of the very richest monopolise all sectors. Yet in “Gareebon ka Hindustan”, 3 crore youth lost jobs in 2021.”
